INGREDIENT BENEFITS - DOG PRODUCTS

Bee Pollen
Often referred to as a "super food", bee pollen contains an incredible array of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, amino acids and enzymes.

Betaine Hcl
A nutrient and a source of hydrochloric acid, a naturally occurring chemical in the stomach that helps digest food by breaking up fats and proteins.

Biotin
A member of the B-vitamin family and a co-enzyme for several metabolic pathways, including the growth of healthy skin and coat due to its role in collagen formation.

Bone Marrow
Natural source of protein, B Complex vitamins, calcium, magnesium, zinc, lecithin and methionine.

Borage Oil
Borage (starflower) oil is one of the richest sources of linolenic acid, an Omega 6 fatty acid.

Boswellia
An herb whose active ingredients work as an anti-inflammatory by improving the blood supply to the affected area and enhancing the repair of local blood vessels damaged by inflammation.

Bromelain
A natural anti-inflammatory that is found in papaya, pineapple and other fruits. Also works as a digestive aid.

Calcium
A macromineral found in highest amounts in bone and teeth and has important roles in muscle contraction, cell membranes and enzyme regulation.

Cedar Oil
Used as an antiseptic, astringent and general anti-bacterial.

Cellulase
An enzyme complex which aids in digestion by breaking down cellulose to beta-glucose.

Chamomile Extract
Known as "the calming herb", the essential oils that chamomile contains also help to heal skin irritations.

Charcoal (Activated)
A fine, black powder that is odorless and tasteless, and works by adsorbing the toxicity of chemicals through the entire length of the stomach and small and large intestines (GI tract).

Chlorophyll
Used for the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; also effective in reducing bad breath.

Choline
A member of the B Vitamin family; necessary for the structure and functioning of cells.

Chondroitin Sulfate
Chondroitin is a component of connective tissues that are found in joint cartilage and bone. Chondroitin is believed to enhance shock-absorbing characteristics of collagen and block enzymes that break down cartilage. Recent studies have shown that when used in conjunction with glucosamine, chondroitin reduces pain in osteoarthitis and can reverse cartilage loss.

Chromium
A trace mineral which works with insulin to regulate blood sugar and metabolize macronutrients.

Clove Oil
Often used as a general antiseptic as well as an analgesic pain relief agent.

Colloidal Oatmeal
Helps to soothe skin irritations, relieve itchiness and reduce skin inflammation.

Colloidal Sulfur
One of the most important ingredients in the manufacturing of proteins that make up the skin and coat. Also used for it's anti-fungal properties.

Copper
A micromineral required for production of normal connective tissues including tendons, ligaments, cartilage and bone.

Curcumin
A nutrient from an Indian spice called turmeric. Commonly known as one of nature's most potent anti-inflammatory nutrients.

Digestive Enzymes
Enzymes that break down fats, protein and starch in the diet into smaller particles which the small intestine can then absorb.

Dimethicone
Used as a digestive aid by helping to reduce intestinal gas bubbles.

Enzymatic Hydrolyzed Casein
Digestive protein of the casein family that goes through a process where amino acid bonds are broken making short-chained proteins (easier to digest).

Fish Oil
An excellent source of Omega 3 fatty acids essential for healthy skin and coat.

Flaxseed Oil
A rich source of the essential fatty acids (EFAs) alpha-linolenic acid, an Omega 3, and linoleic acid, an Omega 6, essential for healthy skin and coat.

Folic Acid
Also known as Vitamin B9, it plays an important role in cell maintenance and repair.

FOS (Fructooligosaccharides)
Also called fructans, FOS are complex carbohydrates commonly used to help with digestion. Fructans support beneficial intestinal microfora and act as a pre-biotic, which is important for healthy digestion.

Garlic
Commonly called a "superfood", it is widely believed that garlic has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties.

Glucosamine Hcl
An amino sugar that has been shown in studies to inhibit symptoms of advance joint problems. Glucosamine plays a key role in reducing inflammation and the enzymes that lead to inflammation that ultimately destroy cartilage. Glucosamine is naturally produced by the body, yet over time, the natural production of Glucosamine is inadequate to protect the joints from wear and tear and must be supplemented. Glucosamine is found in soft tissue such as, blood vessels, heart valves, mucus membranes, ligaments and tendons.

Grape Seed Extract
Concentrated antioxidants in grape seed and skin appear to work cooperatively with Vitamin E to neutralize free radicals.

Hops
A natural herb that has been used for centuries as a natural sedative to relieve nervous tension and anxiety.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
HA is a gel-like substance naturally found in the connective tissue space and the synovial fluid of movable joints. Orally administered HA has been shown in several studies to be bio-available (absorbable) and effective in replacing the damaged HA in the joint that is commonly caused by trauma, overuse, or every day wear and tear.

Inositol
A member of the B Vitamin family; helps with the formation of cell membranes, nerve transmission and transportation of fats.

Iodine
A micromineral whose function plays a part of the thyroid hormones which regulate metabolism.

Iron
Essential trace mineral that helps transport oxygen to cells, important for muscle protein and traces of it can be found in liver, spleen, bone marrow and muscles.

Kelp
Rich source of vitamins, minerals and amino acids; also an excellent source of micronutrients needed to support trace mineral deficiencies.

L-Cysteine A sulfur containing amino acid that is important for healthy skin functioning; aids in the production of collagen and promotes proper skin elasticity and texture.

Lecithin
Contains Phospholipids and Omega Fatty Acids which add strength and pliability to connective tissues, and are also critical for proper moisture balance.

Licorice
One of the most widely used herbs for people and animals, licorice is used primarily for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Liver
Good source for several important nutrients including iron, calcium and vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as all of the B vitamins.

Magnesium
Benefits include maintaining bodily nerves, muscles and bones; also helps in protein synthesis and cellular metabolism.

Manganese
A micromineral crucial for proper formation of healthy bones and joints. It is also essential in carbohydrate and fat metabolism.

Methionine
A sulfur-based amino acid that is important for the proper utilization of lipids and building the sulfur crosslinks that add strength to connective tissue proteins.

Mint Oil
Instrumental in eliminating bad breath and aids in dental and gum health due to its antiseptic properties.

Molybdenum
An essential trace element that is used in the metabolism of sulfur and the trace elements fluoride, iron and copper.

MSM
(Methylsulfonylmethane) is an organic sulfur that plays a critical role in the formation of protein and connective tissue. Studies indicate it has anti-inflammatory properties and supports healthy joints, a strong immune system and healthy skin, coat and hooves.

Niacinamide
A form of Vitamin B3 that helps supply energy to the cells; may also improve joint mobility.

Ox Bile
Digestive aid that assists in breaking down cholesterol and other components of fat in the intestines.

PABA
PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) is a nonprotein amino acid, sometimes included in the B Vitamin family; linked to red blood cell formation as well as the production of folic acid.

Pancreatin
A mixture of three enzymes normally made by the pancreas: amylase, lipase and protease, that together break down fats, protein and starch in the diet into smaller particles which the small intestine can then absorb.

Papain
An enzyme found in papaya fruit that breaks down the protein from foods into amino acids, which are essential to cellular function.

Parsley Seed Oil
Commonly used as a digestive aid and also used to help improve breath.

Passion Flower
A gentle calming herb used to alleviate anxiety associated with stressful situations.

Phosphorus
Important mineral used for carbohydrate and fat utilization, helps synthesize protein and helps form teeth and bones.

Potassium
An electrolyte mineral that regulates the heart's activity and muscle function.

Rosemary Extract
Commonly used for its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

Saw Palmetto Berries
Extract derived from the berries of saw palmetto fan palm; believed to help in the treatment of hair loss.

Selenium
Selenium is a trace mineral needed by the body to keep the immune system and thyroid functioning normally.

Silica
Research indicates that silica maintains the strength of connective tissue such as tendons and ligaments, has a positive effect on wound healing, is required in cartilage formation and improves the quality and appearance of skin, hair and hooves.

Skullcap
A natural calming herb that is used primarily to help relieve anxiety.

Soft Water
Soft water process removes high levels of minerals and heavy metals found in hard water, which can cause the skin to become dry and irritated.

Sulfur
A macromineral that serves in every major structure and function roles in the body. It is a component of proteins such as enzymes and of connective tissue such as hooves, bones, cartilage, tendons and ligaments.

Sunflower Oil
A rich source of fatty acids, especially Omega 6 fatty acids.

Superoxide Dismutase
One of the most important and effective antioxidant in the body and is the first line of defense against free radicals that damage cells.

Thyme Extract
Thyme extract contains thymol and other phenols, which have antiseptic and antioxidant properties.

Valerian Root
Effective and widely used in relieving stress and anxiety. Unlike anti-anxiety drugs, Valerian is not addictive.

Vitamin A
Well-known for its role in maintaining healthy vision, but is also needed for reproduction, immunity, and normal skeletal development.

Vitamin B Complex
Includes thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folate, B-12, pantothenic acid, biotin and choline, all needed for healthy growth in skin and coat.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)
Important in carbohydrate metabolism and in the transmission of impulses along nerves.

Vitamin B12
A water soluble vitamin that is essential for the healthy functioning of the brain and the nervous system, as well as red blood cell formation.

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)
Helps metabolize nutrients, manufacture antibodies and produce vitamin D; important in maintaining a healthy digestive tract and it helps the body use other vitamins more effectively.

Vitamin B6
A member of the B complex vitamins. Required for protein and glucose metabolism and the manufacturing of red blood cells. Necessary for normal immune system and nervous system functions.

Vitamin B-Complex
Includes thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B-6, folate, B-12, pantothenic acid, biotin and choline, all needed for healthy growth in skin and coat.

Vitamin C (Buffered)
An antioxidant that helps protect the tissues of the body, and is important in the production of connective tissues such as tendons and ligaments, skin and bones.

Vitamin D
Plays an indirect role in bone growth and maintenance by managing the levels of calcium in the body.

Vitamin E
Most recognized as an antioxidant that helps to heal and repair damaged skin and dry coat.

Vitamin K
(Menadione) is necessary for the activation of proteins which play a role in blood clotting, bone metabolism and vascular health.

Wheatgrass Concentrate
High source of vitamins A and C, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, sulfur, magnesium, zinc, cobalt, protein, active enzymes, amino acids and chlorophyll.

Yeast
A rich source of Vitamin-B, which is necessary for good metabolism and healthy dermis (skin, hoof and hair).

Yucca
An highly effective herb widely used to relieve pain and inflammation, as the main active ingredient (a protein called saponin) has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Zinc
A micromineral involved in the formation of bone tissue, connective tissue and healthy skin. Also offers antioxidant protection and helps with immune system function.
